Falcon Heavy could launch three U.S. Space Force missions in 2022 | Space News

Two US Space Force missions using Falcon Heavy rockets that were supposed to launch in 2021 have been pushed back to next year. A third US national security mission has been added to Falcon Heavy’s already-hectic 2022 schedule. A spokesman for the US Space Systems Command said on Oct. 30 that USSF-67, a classified national security mission to geostationary Earth orbit given to SpaceX last year under a $332 million contract, is “on track for mid-to-late 2022 launch.” Although SpaceX will be able to retrieve the two side boosters, the mission will be launched on a Falcon Heavy rocket with an expendable central core.

Biden’s policies are creating jobs — for robots | The Hill

Joe Biden ran on the promise of creating jobs, and he’s doing just that – just not for people. Employers are increasingly turning to robots to undertake activities that humans used to do but can’t or won’t do anymore. Simultaneously, the workforce in the United States has fallen dramatically, leaving approximately 10 million job positions unfilled. President Biden’s actions are worsening both of these problems, with the support and strong pushing of progressives. Employers have been automating for years in the United States and many other nations. That isn’t something new. However, after the COVID-19 epidemic began, this trend has accelerated considerably.

The Pentagon quietly removed more than 130,000 Afghanistan War photos and videos from public view | Task & Purpose

The Pentagon has discreetly erased a vast collection of Afghanistan War footage from its official visual record, comprising over 120,000 photographs and 17,000 films. The photographs and films were published to the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service, or DVIDS, a massive library of publically available material for use by the public and the press. The Pentagon began archiving the imagery in August and September as it worked to move Afghans out of the country, according to Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby, who also stated that the US government continues to assist Afghans who need to leave.

We mapped every large solar plant on the planet using satellites and machine learning | ScienceX

Since 2010, the cost of solar photovoltaic (PV) energy has dropped by an incredible 82 percent, giving the world a fighting chance to develop a zero-emissions energy system that may be less expensive than the fossil-fuelled system it replaces. According to the International Energy Agency, PV solar producing capacity will have to increase tenfold by 2040 if we are to fulfill the simultaneous goals of reducing global poverty and keeping global warming well below 2°C. There are still significant obstacles to overcome. Because sunlight varies throughout the day and between seasons, solar energy must be conserved for times the sun does not shine. Solar energy must also reach the farthest parts of the globe and locations where it is most needed, according to policy.

U.S. Senator Heartbroken Men Watch Porn And Play Video Games | Kotaku

Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, a Republican, spoke out against the war on men at the National Conservatism Conference yesterday. He raised the alarm about declining marriage rates and college enrollment in a lengthy and rambling lecture, arguing that more and more men are falling out of labor and retreating into porn and video games. This isn’t the first time politicians have sought to incite moral panic over Pornhub and Fortnite; it’s also not the first time they’ve blamed them for the middle class’s decline. In his 2017 book, The Vanishing American Adult, Senator Ben Sasse, a Republican from Nebraska, blamed video games for fewer males working low-wage jobs.
