During a webinar for an intelligence-security trade group last week, Rear Admiral Michael Studeman issued a warning that China is developing systems with capacities ranging from “glittering to blocking, to ballistic kill-from-the-ground, from orbit.” This is the newest alert from a senior US military official about China’s production of anti-missiles aimed at US spacecraft. The US Director of National Intelligence issued a report in April claiming that the Tiangong space station constituted a low-orbit security danger to the US, claiming that the facility was built to “obtain the military, economic, and prestige advantages that Washington has acquired from space leadership.”
