Data-driven technology has changed the world in the last ten years. We’ve seen what’s possible when massive volumes of data are collected, and artificial intelligence is trained to comprehend it. The options are limitless. However, these new instruments have also resulted in major issues. Many factors influence what robots learn, including the data used to train them. It will be difficult but necessary to create a bill of rights for an AI-powered world. America has been a work in progress since its creation, aiming at values, admitting flaws, and working to correct them. We should hold AI to the same standard. It is our collective responsibility to guarantee that data-driven technologies reflect and respect democratic principles.
