According to a Florida Senate commission, the commercial space industry is evolving and growing at such a quick pace that the country’s principal launch center, Cape Canaveral, may soon be overwhelmed with rocket launch requests. Purdy estimates that 65 percent of the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station flights in the past year were commercial launches of private satellites and other orbital commerce. In the next 12 months, he anticipates that percentage to climb to 81 percent. He stated that they had more companies lined up to launch seven freshly constructed private rockets.
