US Space Force awards contract for simulation and war gaming environment | Defense News

The Space Force will get a space simulation platform from Slingshot Aerospace that will be used to educate advanced topics.

Slingshot Aerospace stated today that it is working on a digital duplicate of space for the United States. As part of a new $25 million contract, the Space Force will be able to swiftly offer training and wargaming capabilities. The company’s Digital Space Twin model mimics the space environment and displays real-time maps of on-orbit objects and space weather. Slingshot has been developing the tool as a commercial product for the last two years and will adapt it for Space Force missions under the new contract to “improve their capacity to monitor and react to present and future threats,” according to a news statement issued by the company on Thursday. Before completing the government product, the corporation intends to release the commercial version.

US Space Force Cis-lunar Highway Patrol System to patrol around the moon | Phy.Org

The newly founded United States Space Force has revealed intentions to establish CHPS or the Cis-lunar Highway Patrol System.

We’ll need a mechanism to monitor space trash and the expanding number of missions orbiting the moon and beyond as human activity expands outward into the solar system. The newly founded United States Space Force has revealed intentions to establish CHPS or the Cis-lunar Highway Patrol System. CHPS will give a serious study into space traffic farther out in orbit around the Earth-moon system, despite its name harkening back to a certain corny TV series from the 1970s. Private enterprises and space organizations are expected to return to the moon in large numbers in the following decade, necessitating the creation of such a network. The issue was recently exposed when a rocket booster collided with the moon on March 4. Despite being far from unique, this was one of the first “lost items” to be found just before impact.

Space Force Is Still Finding Its Way. Space Force Offers Clues | Wired

It was uncertain a year ago if the besieged US Space Force would survive. Now, the sixth branch of the US military is trying to find legitimacy and purpose in a society that still mocks its Star Trek-inspired emblem and nomenclature. Space Force on Netflix follows a similar path. The sitcom, which premiered in 2020 as a parody of Trump’s agency and will continue for a second season on Friday, is dealing with an identity problem like that of its namesake, but with less brinkmanship and more humour. Now that the department it critiques is no longer a viral joke, it’s looking for a prime directive, a goal. Even if jokes about a president who is always tweeting are no longer funny, Space Force indicates where the Space Force may go.

USC to partner with the U.S. Space Force | USC

On Feb. 28, USC President Carol Folt announced a relationship with the United States Space Force, making USC the only institution on the West Coast to join the exclusive club of academic partners. In August 2021, the Space Force’s two-year-old academic collaboration program was established at the University of North Dakota. The University Partnership now includes 14 academic partners from the Space Force, including Howard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Purdue University. Folt expressed her delight at the prospect of expanding the university’s relationship with the US Armed Forces. With bipartisan backing, the National Defense Authorization Act formed the United States Space Force in December 2019. The $738 billion military budget bill resulted in the formation of the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces, the first since the United States Air Force was established in 1947.
