While many people fear that their jobs will be taken over by robots in the future, this is already occurring in an area few expected: social media influencers. 

The Kardashian era seems to be coming to an end, replaced by artificial intelligence and digital influencers who are welcomed by those who are influenced by them. Professor Sean Sands of Swinburne Marketing looked at human versus artificial intelligence (AI) influencers on Instagram, comparing the Kardashians to Shudu, the world’s first digital supermodel, and Miquela, who has more than 3 million followers and describes herself as a “19-year-old Robot living in LA.” People are just as likely to follow AI influencers as they are to follow human influencers, according to a study done by Swinburne University. It might be explained by a ‘spill-over impact’ from user encounters with other AI recommendation systems, according to his study team. Simply said, we’ve been conditioned to accept AI recommendations, from Netflix streaming choices to Spotify, Amazon, and Booktopia.

So that the receiver of the communication does not get unhappy after receiving the news, OMOY includes a word of encouragement and advice.

University of Idaho has some news campus workers, a fleet of autonomous food delivery robots. The 15 robot fleet is called by the name of Starfleet and is working for multiple food companies in the area. “We’re excited to bring this service to a wide array of our dining options,” said Cami McClure, assistant vice president for auxiliary services. “The university community is eager for on-campus dining delivery and now, with Starship Technologies, we are able to offer a fun, fast and friendly way to deliver.” The robots are capable of carrying the equivalent of 3 shopping bags.

Ford’s Advanced Manufacturing Center has created a platform that lets machines from many vendors communicate in the same language and independently manage segments of the manufacturing line. For years, automakers have used robots to save costs and improve efficiency in their production operations. However, Ford’s patent-pending method eliminates a critical bottleneck in the manufacturing process by allowing robots to run 3D printers without human intervention throughout the night. The self-contained system is the first time that Carbon 3D printers and KUKA-built robots can communicate in the same language, opening up a world of possibilities for other machines engaged in the manufacturing process to interact.

Bex is a robotic ibex created by Kawasaki and modeled after the ferociously horned type of goat found in various hilly parts of Africa and Eurasia. Bex made her maiden appearance at iREX in Japan this week, and we should discuss why a Kawasaki robot ibex exists today, other than the fact that it’s just so dang fun to say out loud. Since 2015, Kawasaki has been working on a “Robust Humanoid Platform” (RHP) named Kaleido, and Bex is one of the program’s “friends.” Bex looks to feature a hybrid mobility system featuring knee wheels on which it may kneel to move more swiftly on smooth and level terrain. It’s also worth mentioning that Bex has a seat and handlebars (! ), as well as the ability to transport up to 100 kg.
