Thousands of cyber security job openings, high-risks for malicious attacks, say experts | WACH Fox 57

Hackers are becoming more sophisticated as technology advances. Millions of people are now at risk due to a shortage of cyber specialists like Sadle, who wish to pursue professions in cyber security. Representatives from the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Department of Homeland Security, and other government agencies gathered at USC on Tuesday to brainstorm methods to fill the approximately 450,000 job vacancies. There is a constant struggle to hire and retain workers in an aging society. In the United States alone, the statistics on successful cyber security attacks are worrying. According to cyber security firm Huntress Labs, at least 200 organizations throughout the country were hit by a big ransomware outbreak this year. One out of every five small firms are expected to be a victim.

North Korea’s Lazarus Group Turns to Supply Chain Attacks | Dark Reading

The notorious Lazarus Group of North Korea’s recent action gives new evidence of threat actors’ increased interest in leveraging trusted IT supply chain providers as access points to company networks. Kaspersky Lab security experts recently found two different campaigns in which the Lazarus Group compromised an IT firm’s network — most likely as part of a larger scheme to corrupt the company’s downstream clients. The Lazarus Group, which was behind the WannaCry ransomware attack and a slew of other destructive campaigns, is one of a rising number of threat actors building skills to target businesses by exploiting vulnerabilities in the IT supply chain.

Space Force says demand for Cape Canaveral rocket launches may soon exceed capacity | Florida Politics

According to a Florida Senate commission, the commercial space industry is evolving and growing at such a quick pace that the country’s principal launch center, Cape Canaveral, may soon be overwhelmed with rocket launch requests. Purdy estimates that 65 percent of the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station flights in the past year were commercial launches of private satellites and other orbital commerce. In the next 12 months, he anticipates that percentage to climb to 81 percent. He stated that they had more companies lined up to launch seven freshly constructed private rockets.
