What Netflix’s move into gaming means for developers | TechCrunch

In the struggle for customer attention, Netflix sees gaming as an important element of its future. Mike Verdu was hired as the CEO of a new gaming branch in July, demonstrating the company’s commitment to entering this new market. Netflix’s current audience of over 209 million customers translates to a lot of free marketing impressions and inexpensive player acquisition expenses, providing it an obvious advantage over small studios and independent game creators who frequently struggle to get their games noticed. Furthermore, Netflix’s gaming business could be problematic for the large number of mobile game creators who rely on in-app purchases or advertising for revenue.

The cyber battlefield against China and Russia is constantly shifting. Here’s how the NSA is trying to stay on top. | Defense News

According to a senior National Security Agency officer, opponents to the United States are constantly changing up their ways to breach US networks in the cyberspace battle. As a result, the United States must continue to transform the strategies and technologies it employs to combat cybercriminals from countries such as China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea — and collaborate with the private sector to do so, according to David Luber, deputy director of the National Security Agency’s cybersecurity directorate, during a panel at C4ISRNET’s CyberCon. Luber said the NSA’s Cybersecurity Collaboration Center is creating algorithms to help it filter through both government signals intelligence acquired abroad and what industry experts have identified as part of its drive to engage with the private sector.

Artificial intelligence (AI) may be the most detrimental of all the possibly groundbreaking innovations. Nuclear and thermonuclear weapons may be the only similar disruptive technology. Nuclear weapons have sparked a raging debate about their moral and legal repercussions, as well as when and how they should be used, from a counterforce first attack against military objectives to counter value retaliating positions against the population and industrial centers, and “tactically” to restrict upsurge or correct conventional weapons disparities. The discussion over AI’s place in society has resurfaced, reigniting debate about equally important topics and issues.
