American Express has revolutionized its credit checks with machine learning | diginomica

American Express agrees that artificial intelligence is becoming beneficial but holds its ‘cards’ about the technology and software decisions it chose to get there near to its chest. Amex has pledged to use artificial intelligence to digitize a large portion of one of the company’s few remaining manually laborious activities. As Radhakrishnan affirmed, traditional technologies such as OCR (optical character recognition) and document management sit at the beginning of the automation process, deeming all of the required document (or electronic) credit risk decision details into the form the AI software requires to ingest it in.

The pandemic’s worldwide volatility and expansion in remote labor have contributed to the increased importance of ICS cybersecurity challenges. Phishing attempts and spam campaigns, in particular, are growing more widespread. Hackers typically attempt to get access to ICS systems for political or commercial gain. Politically motivated hacking attempts are typically associated with cyber warfare between two nation-states.

According to reports, the US has carried out over 14,000 such attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen since 2004. Drone operations that assassinate Islamic terrorists may result in more terrorist acts, not less. They also result in a startling number of civilian casualties: some studies estimate that a third of drone deaths are civilians, while others estimate that the number is even higher.

Cyber Command plans bigger budget for mission planning tool | C4ISRNET

Under the most recent defense funding plan, the funding proposal for a command-and-control system to aid US Cyber Command in mission planning more than double. JCC2, or Joint Cyber Command and Control, will give situational awareness, combat management, and information regarding the readiness levels of cyber forces for operations worldwide. The instrument was budgeted at $79 million in the fiscal 2022 research and development budget, one of the greatest increases in budget proposals for Cyber Command capabilities. The system’s budget request was $38.4 million last year, while the Pentagon predicted a planned FY22 amount of $51.4 million at the time.
