New Tech Will Send Police Drones to Sites Where Guns Went Off | Futurism

ShotSpotter, a US-based business, claims that autonomous drones that fly to sites where gunshots are detected will soon be available to Israeli police personnel. ShotSpotter collaborated with Airobotics to develop the aforementioned drone. It’s difficult to believe that placing this technology on a drone will solve problems like slow response and high arrest rates, especially if it’s in the hands of Israeli cops, who have their own history of human rights violations. Law enforcement technology has the potential to save lives and make officers’ jobs safer, but only if it works in the first place. The situation becomes considerably worse if malfunctioning technology enters into the wrong hands.

Customers no longer have to wait for long periods of time just to bug something. Robots are now being used by corporations to make the procedure easier. Walgreens, for example, is automating the filling of prescriptions, while Sprinkles and Starbucks are replacing cashiers with tablets. According to Molly Harnischfeger, a director of AlixPartners’ consumer-insights team, these changes in the business sphere have occurred as companies struggle to locate people and pay greater rates.

The Space Force, a branch of the US military, has granted GEOST, an Arizona-based company, a contract for prototype space-based sensors worth US$32 million (NT$883.84 million). The Space Force is attempting to increase the number of eyes “above the skies” by installing low-cost mini-sensors on a variety of satellites, both US-owned and those of international partners, in order to better understand what is going on in space. The force has already made agreements for sensors to be hosted in Japan and Norway.
