IOTW: China Possibly To Blame For India’s 2020 Power Outage As Cyber Warfare Increases Globally | Cyber Security Hub

Last October 2019, Mumbai, India’s financial capital, suffered a massive power outage that shut down thousands of businesses, dozens of trains, and left millions without power. India has been openly working to decrease its dependence on China’s supply chain, and these power outages were more than just a technical glitch-filled embarrassment. On February 28, an investigative report published by the U.S. cybersecurity firm Recorded Future, linked China with the power outage and theorizes that the attack on India’s infrastructure was both a warning and retaliation for a very recent border skirmish. At the forefront of cyber warfare, where does an increasingly nationalistic country stand against being bullied by a tech behemoth?

A Solid Plan to Compete with China in Artificial Intelligence | Defense One

Staying ahead of a rapidly gaining China in the field of artificial intelligence requires a concrete and comprehensive plan of action, and the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence, or NSCAI, has the blueprints for a better equipped United States in the AI battleground. Created three years ago to determine how the United States could develop AI and machine learning systems to address U.S. national security and defense needs. The NSCAI is more than likely expected to shape the U.S. government’s AI strategy in the years to come, particularly within the Defense Department.

Who will lead the world in artificial intelligence? | C4ISRNET

The Department of Defense and Congress are urgently working together to modernize the way defense programs and corresponding budgets develop, integrate and deploy the latest technologies in support of American national security. The U.S. Navy specifically wants the development of unmanned surface and underwater vehicles as platforms to launch drone swarms, saying that this strategic development may offer a slate of game-changing capabilities. These small unmanned aerial vehicles configured as loitering munitions, also known as “suicide drones”, are versions of the Coyote and have been contracted for development by Raytheon, in a deal valued up to $33 million, according to the Pentagon.

No One-Size-Fits-All Response to Space Attacks, Raymond Says | Air Force Magazine

‘There’s no such thing as a space war, it’s just war.” Chief of Space Operations Gen. John W. “Jay” Raymond said during an event hosted by the National Press Club. Stating further that depending on the strategic context that’s going on in the world or how nations might choose to conduct operations in space is just integrated into a larger strategic conflict, and there’s no one-size-fits-all answer for the type of actions taken by a satellite would be considered an act of war. The U.S. Space Force is the 6th independent U.S. military service branch, tasked with missions and operations in the rapidly evolving space domain. Since being signed into law and inaugurated, the Space Force is trying to drive that conversation to constrain bad behavior and shape a common understanding of what’s acceptable in orbit.
