Poland wants to urgently buy U.S. Reaper drones, as Russia fears mount | Yahoo

Poland wants to acquire MQ-9 Reaper drones from the US in the immediate future, with plans to buy more at a later date, as security fears grow three weeks after Russia invaded its neighbor Ukraine. While the initial drones will be bought under a fast-track mechanism, Platek told Reuters that Poland was also working on the Zefir program, which involves negotiating the acquisition of MALE-class unmanned aerial vehicles. He wouldn’t say which drones may be purchased. Poland anticipates receiving its first drones before the end of the year. The government did not say how much the potential purchase would cost.

Biden’s CIA head leads the charge against Putin’s information war | The Hill

Late last year, when Russia started massing soldiers on Ukraine’s border, CIA Director William Burns was prepared. Burns, a career ambassador, served two deployments at the US Embassy in Moscow and is one of Biden’s top experts on Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin. Burns, who sits atop the CIA, is in charge of a sprawling bureaucracy whose work is intended to be kept secret under normal circumstances. However, when Russia’s threats to Ukraine grew, the Biden administration, led by Burns and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, opted to pursue a unique and riskier strategy, which the administration thinks has paid off in damaging Putin’s war preparations. Early in the Biden administration, Burns was authorized to oversee the CIA. His nomination was uncontroversial, and he is well-liked by both Democrats and Republicans in national security circles.

FromSoftware hopes to expand Elden Ring ‘beyond the realm of games’ | The Verge

Elden Ring, a game developed by FromSoftware, has sold over 12 million copies worldwide since its debut last month. Elden Ring, like every other pop-cultural triumph in 2022, will be a franchise, with FromSoftware encouraging fans to “please look forward to more of ‘ELDEN RING’ as an IP (characters and other intellectual property) with hopes of growing outside the domain of gaming.” FromSoftware’s games are known (or notorious) for conducting a lot of its narrative in the margins, allowing players to discover the background and meaning of the events that formed each title on their own. Elden Ring is no exception, and the Lands Between open-world breadth means that FromSoftware has even more room to fill up the gaps with extra material in the future if it so desires.

IS DEEP LEARNING A REAL BIG THING! OR IS IT OVERHYPED AMONG USERS | Analytical Insights

Deep learning is a subset of a larger family of machine learning techniques based on representation learning and artificial neural networks. Its goal is to improve the AI process of teaching robots to learn new things. Deep learning relies on powerful computers and a significant amount of data to train enormous neural networks. Deep learning became the subject of a fad. Deep learning and sophisticated artificial intelligence are used by many firms to solve issues and improve their products and services. Deep learning, on the other hand, has been overhyped for far too long. Meanwhile, misleading tales about artificial intelligence and deep learning were widely circulated in the media. They were written by persons who lacked a thorough knowledge of how technology works.

Ford is now using robots to operate 3D printers without human help | Tech Crunch

Ford’s Advanced Manufacturing Center has created a platform that lets machines from many vendors communicate in the same language and independently manage segments of the manufacturing line. For years, automakers have used robots to save costs and improve efficiency in their production operations. However, Ford’s patent-pending method eliminates a critical bottleneck in the manufacturing process by allowing robots to run 3D printers without human intervention throughout the night. The self-contained system is the first time that Carbon 3D printers and KUKA-built robots can communicate in the same language, opening up a world of possibilities for other machines engaged in the manufacturing process to interact.
