PlayStation — or, more precisely, PlayStation Network — may have just verified that the PS5 will support PS3 backward compatibility. Of course, if PS3 backward compatibility is coming to the PS5, it’s likely that PS2 and PS1 backward compatibility will follow. This might be an accident, but if it is, it comes at a bad time for Sony, considering all the recent talk regarding PS3, PS2, and PS1 backward compatibility with the PS5. This comes the same week that PlayStation began notifying UK shops to remove PlayStation Now cards from shelves, reportedly in preparation for the launch of a new PlayStation subscription service codenamed Spartacus.

Activision, the beleaguered developer of Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Diablo, is being bought by Microsoft. Activision will be valued at $68.7 billion, significantly more than the $26 billion Microsoft spent for LinkedIn in 2016. Microsoft’s agreement comes after Activision Blizzard was accused of sexual harassment for months. Microsoft’s massive Activision Blizzard transaction comes almost a year after the corporation paid $7.5 billion for Bethesda (ZeniMax Media). Microsoft now anticipates the Activision Blizzard merger to “close in the fiscal year 2023,” which indicates it might take up to 18 months for the transaction to be authorized.

Samsung’s latest gaming monitor, the Odyssey Ark, is a next-gen gaming monitor with a 16:9 screen that can be used either vertically or horizontally. The “multi-view” function of the monitor allows you to adjust the screen resolution to watch films, play games, or do whatever else you choose. The Ark has a 55-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio that can be utilized horizontally or vertically. The Ark isn’t slated to appear on sale until the second half of 2022, so we may have to wait a long for details on its exact features and price—though you can almost certainly anticipate it to be astronomically costly.

Tesla owners will soon be unable to play video games on the center touch displays of their vehicles while they are in motion. Tesla made the same option after agreeing to comply with US car safety regulators’ recommendations. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the business will issue a software update over the Internet that will disable the “Passenger Play” efficiency and prevent it from working while the car is moving. The move comes only one day after the DOT announced it would launch a formal inquiry into concerns about distracted driving caused by Tesla’s video games, some of which can be played while driving.
