Intending to speed up robot movements as fast as their thoughts, MIT researchers use robomorphic computing technology. This technology uses custom computer chips that can accelerate the hardware components of a computer, resulting in faster movement of the robot. Hardware acceleration isn’t something new as it has been used in most technologies, including iPhones. In the case of robots, these chips are hyper-specific and are made based on the physical layout and intended use of the robot.

Microsoft and GM entered into a long strategic relationship in creating self-driving cars, pushing Cruise to the forefront. The deal was sealed with a $2 billion investment, raising Cruise post-investment to a whopping $30 billion. Within the deal, Cruise will use Microsoft’s cloud computing platform, Azure, to help speed up the production process. Microsoft will use the partnership too as a stepping stone to expand into the transportation sector.

With a $40 million deal, the European Union, together with Estonia and Milrem, the country’s robotics company, has officially kicked in the development of Integrated Modular Unmanned Ground System, or iMUGS. The project aims to create a standardized European-wide ecosystem for aerial and ground platforms. Also included in the deal are relevant command and control technologies.
Plans for the U.S. Space Force’s new Space Systems Command have been finalized already and is expected to be presented publicly in early 2021. The new Space Systems Command is one of the three commands established by the new Space Force. Aside from developing, acquiring, and sustaining systems, the new Space System Command will oversee the Space Rapid Capabilities Office and the Space Development Agency.
